Alex and Dell

Some of you might know that I’m a huge fan of Alex Albrecht, so I was quite surprised when I found out today that he has appeared in a Dell commercial – hilarious! That guy is definitely crazy (in a positive way). :)

(For those of you who don’t know Alex Albrecht – shame on you! :P – he’s the guy who stands by the window asking how many fingers he’s showing.)

Just slipped into my third decade writing an email to a friend of mine and the song below by Switchfoot playing in iTunes. (No, nothing of this was intentional). I feel a bit weird, I’m not exactly thinking about what I thought I would. Maybe the future will be wonderful. :)

Sunshine, won’t you be my mother
Sunshine, come and help me sing
My heart is darker than these oceans
My heart is frozen underneath

We are crooked souls trying to stay up straight,
Dry eyes in the pouring rain well
The shadow proves the sunshine
The shadow proves the sunshine

To scared that I’ll run always
Hold fast to the break of day light were
The shadow proves the sunshine

Oh Lord, why did you forsake me?
Oh Lord, don’t be far away away
Storm clouds gathering beside me
Please Lord, don’t look the other way

Crooked souls trying to stay up straight
Dry eyes in the pouring rain well
The shadow proves the sunshine
The shadow proves the sunshine

To scared that I’ll run always
Hold fast to the break of day light were
The shadow proves the sunshine
The shadow proves the sunshine

Yeah Yeah, shine on me
Yeah Yeah, shine on me
Yeah Yeah, shine on me
Yeah Yeah, shine on me

“This life is the only one you’ve got.”

Arte will be airing the ingenious Lukas Moodysson’s movie Lilja 4-Ever tonight at 22.40 in Swedish/English (with subtitles in French).
It is a mere understatement to declare this shattering masterpiece of film history as the best movie I have ever seen.
This masterwork, beyond any comparison, abruptly begins with the suicide of the main character, sixteen year old Lilja, the whole scene being underlined by Rammstein’s hard hitting Mein Herz brennt, before the screen fades to black, you hear some slower music and the credits appear as it would in any other film. Then, for almost two hours, you are pulled into blank despair as you are shown how Lilja slowly loses her only friend and all her hope: she has to prostitute herself to get some money, until she is taken to Sweden, the promised land, and is raped and maltreated again and again and again.
Besides Thirteen, which is a nice popcorn movie compared to this one, I have never been to a film where there was a breathless silence afterwards. So beware, you will most certainly have to swallow hard more than once during and after the film.
An absolute must-see!
